THe Geneva Kent Center for the Arts
We have a home! In February of 2023, Alchemy took up residence in the old Geneva Kent Elementary School. Through the generous help of local businesses, and the blood, sweat, and tears of community and company volunteers, Alchemy's Geneva Kent Center for the Arts is open for business! Our mission to provide an accessible space for local artisans is well on its way. We're beyond excited to show you our new black box theatre, costume and props shops, dance studio, Linda's Lounge, and more. If you or your company need a venue for performing arts classes, rehearsals, or shows please don't hesitate to get in touch!

Nunsense
September 20, 2024 - September 29, 2024
Director: Helen Freeman
Five of the 19 surviving Little Sisters of Hoboken, a one-time missionary order that ran a leper colony on an island south of France, discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, accidentally killed the other fifty-two residents of the convent with her tainted vichyssoise while they were off playing bingo with a group of Maryknolls. Upon discovering the disaster, Mother Superior had a vision in which she was told to start a greeting card company to raise funds for the burials. The greeting cards were an enormous success and, thinking there was plenty of money, the Reverend Mother bought a lot of very expensive electronic equipment for the convent, leaving her with no money in the kitty to pay for the last four burials. With the deceased nuns on ice in the deep freeze, they decide to stage a variety show in the Mount Saint Helen's School auditorium, where the school is currently performing the musical GREASE!, to raise the necessary amount. Hilarity ensues.

A Winnie-the-Pooh Christmas Tail
December 6, 2024 - December 8, 2024
Director: Jocelyn Jasko
A very special Friend-and-Relation tells Christopher Robin a story of a Christmas Eve very long ago (about last year) when Eeyore, the old gray donkey who lives by himself in the thistle corner of Hundred-Acre Wood, was absolutely miserable. It seems that he lost his tail and Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet got all of their friends and a search was organized. There is a great deal of fun and excitement, plus delightful songs, in the adventure that follows. Its theme, which concerns caring, sharing and the importance of cultivating friends, makes this a very special and enchanting musical, and illustrates, for all of us, a most HUMAN Condition, in the form of a silly old bear and friends.
