Hilary Brewster
Bio
Hilary Brewster is originally from Hudson, NY, where she was active in dance, school and summer stock theater, and various choral groups. A 2001 graduate of Muhlenberg College with a BA in psychology and women’s studies, she also danced and performed in various black box productions, sang in the college choir, and was an original member of the all-woman a cappella group, The Girls Next Door. During her semester abroad at the Rothberg International School in Jerusalem, she was in a production of Guys and Dolls as a Hotbox Girl, though went on as Nathan Detroit for one performance with a single day’s notice (perhaps her proudest moment). After earning her MS in Secondary English Education from the UPenn, she taught high school in suburban Philadelphia before going on to earn her PhD in Education from Ohio State University. She is an Associate Professor of English and the Director of the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program at Marshall University. She is a regular performer with the sketch comedy group Coseri, dances with 4th Avenue Arts as part of the JDG Migration Project and with a local tap group.
