Stephen Vance

Bio

Stephen Vance is here because his sister, Cindy Stowers, did a couple of shows at Huntington Outdoor Theatre (HOT) and thought he needed something to do in his spare time. Little did he know that volunteering to sweep backstage at Footloose would change his life forever. From backstage technician to making his stage debut just a couple of years later on the same HOT stage, Stephen desired to learn everything he could from those he was privileged to be around. He has the honor of having worked under the direction and education of Helen Freeman, Danny Ray, Bruce Rous, Jerry Morse, Bil Neal, Mike Murdock, and Clint McElroy. He is first and foremost a fan of the arts and the people that make them happen. Stephen is an avid reader of mostly classic literature, he adores jazz, and he can’t surround himself with enough of the artwork of the impressionists. He would rather travel the rest of his life than spend a single night at home. In the time since he first picked up the broom, he has made the best friends he has ever known, the kind that challenge you, encourage you, and the kind that need you too. Outside of his work and play on stage, Stephen is an internationally published photographer; he has mentored and coached state champion and national semifinalist debate, speaking, and pageant winners; and by no fault of his own, has become a very proud uncle. He believes his purpose is to help others achieve their wildest dreams. The son of Charles and Pat Vance, Stephen first stepped behind a television camera at age 12 and has gone on to produce thousands of shows for his local church. When not at his day job or working on one of the multiple projects listed above, he enjoys being a foodie, cooking, and working out (if he can do those things while traveling, all the better). Stephen has completed 5 marathons, and spends any seconds he has remaining in his day hanging with his friends he met at the “gym.”
