Becky McClelland has always had a flair for the dramatic, but didn’t enter the theater world until she had raised her three children. Since taking them to practices and activities was no longer necessary, it was her turn to play. She had been attending shows at Huntington Outdoor Theater (HOT) for several years and knew she wanted something like that. Her first audition was with Arts Resources for the Tri State (ARTS) after seeing an audition call on social media. She landed a role in that show and has been playing with some incredible people ever since. She has been blessed to work under the direction of some very talented individuals who have helped her develop her acting skills. Since that very first show, she has shared the stage with some really great actors whom she now counts as friends and family. She has also worked behind the scenes as a costume designer, set dresser, and props mistress. Becky has a creative spirit and she enjoys the creativity of people around her. Going to watch live music is one of her very favorite things to do and has been one of the hardest things to give up during the recent pandemic. In her time away from the stage, Becky is an Intervention Specialist at a local elementary school. She finds great joy in helping a child learn to do something that was previously thought impossible. She is the mother of three creative and successful grown children and was recently given the title of Grammy by her new grandson Banks. The daughter of Russ Tippett and Jean Tippett, Becky was raised to chase her dreams and explore her creative side. For instance, her family recorded a single in the mid 1970s as the Tippett Family Band with her parents and 4 siblings, although it was for home entertainment only. Becky enjoys community outreach opportunities and she is very active in her church.
